Happy Thursday!

‘Little Secret’ by Passion Pit

C’mon folks! It’s only one more day left of the week and to help you over that hill is ‘Little Secret’ by Passion Pit. Here’s a little info on the boys:

“The slang Passion Pit is derived from traditional Variety-speak used in the Hollywood industry publication. The trade used the slang to refer to drive-in theatres, because of their privacy and romantic allure for teenagers. Passion Pit was originally formed as a solo project in late 2007 by Michael Angelakos in his Emerson dorm room. The songs, which would later become the Chunk of Change EP, were written as a Valentine’s Day gift to his then girlfriend.

Angelakos wrote and performed all of these songs on his laptop. After a solo show in the Boston area, Berklee College of Music student, Ian Hultquist, approached Angelakos to form a live band with the material Angelakos had at the time. Together, they formed a group that included Angelakos, Ian Hultquist (synth), Ayad Al Adhamy (synth), Thom Plasse (bass), and Adam Todd Lavinsky (drums). After signing to Frenchkiss in 2008, the band dropped Lavinsky and Plasse and replaced them with Nate Donmoyer and Jeff Apruzzese, respectively.”

Q&A: Alexis Mincolla

Throughout our journeys in life, we meet individuals that give off a certain energy and you immediately know that this person embodies a force that will impact culture and lifestyle. One of the many people I’ve met on my journey happens to be Alexis Mincolla, after meeting Alexis last summer at our mutual friend’s office (David Gensler of The KDU) and talking about his latest venture, Prometheus Spring, I knew he was onto something big. I recently spoke with Alexis to find out what’s the Overthrow is all about and what void he plans to fill with Prometheus Spring.

precious-mo-nique

Dan Quitério - Mo’Nique. Every year, there’s at least one no-brainer in an acting category. This year, it’s Mo’Nique. The thing is, she actually deserves it based on this Oscar-made role.

Who Will Win: Mo’Nique

Stephanie Dawson - Mo’Nique. She delivers a tour de force performance that brought me to tears. And she took all the other awards, so this is a shoe in.

Who Will Win: Mo’Nique

Janice Perez - Mo’Nique. Final act monologue she does in the movie. Enough said.
