Damn! Lupe serves this beat like it stole his momma’s first Louis Vuitton purse! Definitely falling into my category of my 20 favorite MC’s but he just etched himself up a few notches with this here. All I can say is “Dat Boy Bad” with a Chi-town pimp accent who drives a pink Cadillac with at least 26′ gold spokes on the wheels. Crank up your volume up and put your screw face on and ride out!

As a lover of all things creative, fashion and art, there are very few brands that spark my attention (no offense to those) but over the last year or so, there has been a footwear brand that kept me intrigued from launch, and that brand is Android Homme. There’s a huge difference between a ‘fashion line’ and a ‘fashion brand’. A brand embodies a deeper manifesto far more than what they produce. Android Homme is a true brand of footwear and soon to be accessories for the creatives that push the envelope above and beyond the norm. Directed and edited by Javier Laval and the Lookbook shot by photographer Sarah McColgan, Android Homme celebrates the release of five new styles and the launch of accessories for Android Homme’s Spring 2010 season.

“Shapes and symbols have been a method of communicating and comprehending the unknown since the beginning of time. Android Homme brings you a brand video that utilizes some basic symbols and shapes to outline the process of reprogramming. This piece, directed by Javier Laval, is intended to stimulate and trigger memories from our ancient past to our near and distant future.”

It’s a familiar scenario. High-status family with expensive tastes, absorbing the oohs and aahs of the lesser minions. But who’s that in the corner, keeping to himself, uncomfortable in his fine threads, while the others - in their designer gowns and tails - laugh heartily while waltzing across the floor?

Okay, maybe that’s pushing it a little, perhaps borrowing some imagery from The Sound of Music, but you get the idea. I’m referring to Anderson Cooper, the son of famed heiress and socialite Gloria Vanderbilt. Despite his mother’s extravagant lifestyle, Cooper worked hard to un-pry the silver spoon from his mouth. It just wasn’t him.

The 42-year-old CNN anchor was born into the New York upper-crust, the son of the artist/designer/actress Vanderbilt and writer Wyatt Emory Cooper. After his father’s death, Cooper decided to go to work. Unfortunately for him, not many people were in the market for a 10-year-old. So he turned to modeling. From the ages of 10 - 13, Cooper was signed with Ford Models and spent his pre-teen years in Ralph Lauren and Calvin Klein clothing.

At 17, Cooper left his posh lifestyle behind and ventured through southern Africa, where he contracted malaria and was hospitalized in Kenya. It was traveling through this type of “at-risk” area that would ultimately shape and define his career. It requires a thick skin and an open mind - two qualities that have served him well in his career and life to date.

While Cooper was studying political science at Yale, his older brother Carter committed suicide at the age of 23 - a life-changing moment that spurred the bulldog’s interest in journalism. After college, the wide-eyed Cooper traveled to Myanmar with a fake press pass and a video camera. Having met with students who were protesting against the government, he sold his recorded news segments to Channel One, the closed-circuit news channel that’s broadcast in classrooms throughout the United States. He followed this up with a stint in Vietnam, where he studied the language for a year and recorded segments on Vietnamese culture, which also aired on Channel One. His experiences abroad took him to more war-torn areas, like Somalia, Bosnia, and Rwanda. The “accidental” reporter discussed these early years in Details: “I’d come to be a reporter. At least, that was the excuse. The only thing I really knew is that I was hurting and needed to go someplace where the pain outside matched the pain I was feeling inside.”

No doubt, the loss of his brother weighed heavily on his interest in traveling through such troubled areas and meeting with others in pain. In a 2005 New York article, the journalist states, “Loss is a theme that I think a lot about, and it’s something in my work that I dwell on. I think when you experience any kind of loss, especially the kind I did, you have questions about survival: Why do some people thrive in situations that others can’t tolerate? Would I be able to survive and get on in the world on my own?”

Cooper rose to national prominence beginning in 1995, when he became a correspondent for ABC. He ultimately went on to anchor the network’s overnight news show World News Now. In 2000, Cooper took a break from the news business. Citing his interest in reality television, he was offered hosting duties on ABC’s competition series The Mole, a position he held during the program’s infancy.

Following 9/11, Cooper felt the need to return to the news business, so in December 2001, he launched his tenure at CNN. In 2003, the anchor’s program Anderson Cooper 360 premiered. The show continues on the news network today. While with CNN, Cooper has covered such notable stories as Hurricane Katrina, the death of Pope John Paul II, and the tsunami in Sri Lanka, for which he won a National Headliner Award. He’s also won Emmy Awards for his coverage of Princess Diana’s funeral and the famine in Niger.

The multi-faceted media man currently pulls double duty, as he works as a correspondent for CBS’s long-running newsmagazine 60 Minutes, in addition to his role with CNN. His 2006 New York Times best-seller Dispatches from the Edge delves into various news events that he’s covered.

Anderson Cooper was born into guaranteed success. Wealth. Status. Connections. But he chose to earn his own success. Though he may not have chosen the easiest route, Cooper likely wouldn’t have it any other way. The passion and humanity that he pours into his work is evident and is the sign of a grounded individual with a strong sense of self. Despite his privileged upbringings, he feels relatable to his viewers, and that’s the sign of a good journalist and a better man.

Hellz is proud to present our new Spring Collection, “Obsessed with You,” a collection photographed by Brooke Nipar and modeled by Xian, that reflects an obscure view of modern fashion and the obsession that it becomes. A minimal color story reflects the theme of obsession with the main focus on the unique and simplistic details of each silhouette. The Killa, in particular, is a cowl neck tunic given a hint of seductiveness through the use of a subtle zipper detail at the back of the dress. An exciting new take on the traditional blazer is Coat Tailz, which features a circle cut and a unique draped back.

With this new and daring collection, Hellz continues to cross boundaries with well thought-out design and carefully crafted details as well as demonstrating that fashion may be work to some and it may be a hobby for others, but for popular culture it will forever be an obsession. “Obsessed With You” will be available at such retailers as Oak NYC, Nasty Gal, and Revolve Clothing. I was thinking about this movie for days after I saw it. Don McKay will be in theatres on April 2.

This new album will be different from Electric Feel and Kids, and hope they can maintain their fan base from their previous album. A nostalgic experience when sitting and listening to a piece of music in one sitting was a privilege. I do feel that MGMT will have a hard time replicate the greatness of “Oracular Spectacular”, but to each is their own.

Today marks the 13th anniversary of the death of one of the most respected lyricist in the name of Hip-Hop, the Honorable Notorious B.I.G. When B.I.G. passed away I was 12 yrs old, but not your average 12 yr old, I had friends that were 4-7 yrs older than me that had me well versed into the world of Hip-Hop at it’s best time. When New York had the game in the palm of its hands. Remembering the day that Frank White passed, there was a black cloud over New York and the rest of the East Coast, which became a day of silence and echoes of songs from “Ready to Die” and “Life After Death”. Since that date, Hip Hop has changed for the better and also for the worst, but Biggie’s influence will forever remain in the hearts that appreciate the culture for what it truly is.

The pride and energy that each Brooklynite has due to the success of Christopher Wallace is something that has forever changed the borough and what we offer to the world.

Heritage Research collaborate with Eastman Leather to produce this stunning Aviator Pack, supplied in authentic wartime issue packaging. It includes the ‘A-2 Flight Jacket’, ‘A-10 Gloves’ and ‘Aviators Kit Bag’.

The A-2 Flight Jacket is an exact replica down to the finest detail. Made from beautiful vegetable tanned Steerhide in authentic Seal Brown, the jacket features 100% plain weave cotton lining, dull nickel collar hook, 100% wool tubular woven rib and fitted with Eastmans exclusive chevron Crown zipper, unrivalled by any other manufacturer worldwide. The Eastman x HR A-2 is supplied with the squadron patch of the 703rd Bomb Sq (who boasted Hollywood legend Jimmy Stewart as a Command pilot) and a brass ACME survival whistle. With two press stud front pockets, shoulder epaulettes and ribbed cuff and hem.

The A-10 glove was standardised on July 20th 1938, and was used throughout the whole of WWII. It was issued to all aircrew and is made from a supple Goatskin leather and lined with a fine wool knit. The ribbed wristlet is also made from a 100% wool knit. These are reproduced to the exact USAAF A-10 spec. Complete with small AAF decal which was applied to all A-10s after early ‘43.

The Aviator Kit Bag is made from a strong 100% cotton OD canvas, this is an exact copy of the original WWII USAAF aviators kit bag, in the early war pale OD shade. It is fastened by way of two sprung chevron Crown zippers, that meet at the top, with a further closure flap with press-studs. Featuring AN stenciling on the side and internal pockets which are selvaged with 100% cotton HBT taping. Large enough for an A-2 jacket, gloves, maps and lunch. Duel labeling and Heritage Research stencil on side.

Was this the same song that folks were tweeting about and bashing on Facebook? We must not be listening to the same tune. Drake is one of the artist that has been worthy of listening too in Hip Hop over the last year. If you don’t like him, get over it because he’s down with Lil Wayne and we all know how Weezy loves to get in your face, T.V., and iPod without your permission, so you know he’s going to apply the same technique to Drizzy as he goes in for this 1 year bid in jail.

Back to the song, Drake clearly tells you what he’s here for: “I’m doing me/ I’m living life right now/ And this is what I’m gonna do till it’s over”, and so should you. Man up!
