There’s really no words for this post, this is just another one of Cee-Lo’s greatest creations and now here’s the official video to go along with one of the most talked about songs of the season, if not year. Look for Cee-Lo’s next album The Ladykiller to release later this year.
DJ J. Period has teamed with Spike Lee & 40Acres.com to drop a tribute mixture to the music of Michael Jackson, to celebrate what would have been his 52nd birthday yesterday (August 29th).
J. Period conceived the 80-minute “Man or the Music” mixtape on the eve of Michael Jackson’s passing. The mixtape features Michael Jackson’s classic hits mixed with rare demo versions, as well as behind-the-scenes clips.
“This project originated on the night Michael passed last year, when I was asked by a few promotions companies to pull MJ tracks for a DJ blast,” J. Period explained to AllHipHop.com. “Once I started pulling records, I found myself unable to stop, and the next thing I knew I had stayed up all night making the original version of “Man or the Music” — a stream-of-consciousness mix very different from the usual process for making my tapes. The following morning, while the media was circling like vultures around every negative aspect of Michael’s life, I made the mix available online and in less than an hour I had 15K downloads, and over 30K after the first 24 hours. One thing I found that we all have in common: no matter what we think of Michael Jackson’s life, no one can front on his music. And that day, everyone needed their fix.”
Although this may sound crazy, but there’s some truth to this statement; Nicki Minaj pretty much outshines everyone else on this track. All of these heavy weights do their best to out do each other but Ms. Minaj puts the nail in the coffin. Kanye tweeted that he and Jay-Z were working on a album titled “Watch The Throne”, and this MP3 is a peek of what we can expect to come from the two.

I’m not sure what the weather was where you live but yesterday in NYC, it rained so hard it forced people to stay indoors. What else does one do on a rainy Sunday, read and watch the news, check up the latest in the industry, send “Good Morning” texts to that special somebody. You might find some good music to listen to as you clean up and make your palace a clean and presentable haven. Dam-Funk’s “Never Tongue in Cheek” 7-minute smooth sliding-socks-across-the-floor funkadelic vibe turns out to be all that one needs to get by in the mellow morning. Describing the track on his Soundcloud, he wrote: “I’mma just keep ‘humbly’ Funkin’ U. No funny business….just Funkin’ U.”. It get no better than that.
One thing we pride ourselves on with music is being able to introduce you to musicians to pay close attention. I grab my crotch and say we’ve introduced you to artist like Theophilus London, Mike Posner and Kid Cudi. I can put the gloves on and pull our the analytics to prove it. So the next artist that we’re putting you onto that will be serious name to know is iFFY. Coming out of East Harlem, iFFY makes it a priority for you to believe and feel each of his words as it blares through your speakers or headphones. As a new member of this sorta “feel-good” music coming out, he manages to tailor a sound that he can claim his own.
iFFY’s love for music began with his brother’s nineties rock collection, decorated by the likes of Nirvana and the Red Hot Chili Peppers. It wasn’t until moving from his birthplace of Miami to New York City as an 11 year-old that he was introduced to hip hop, when a classmate lent him the Bad Boy compilation album, “No Way Out.” Almost overnight, he became an instant hip hop head, delving into the music of Cam’ron, Eminem, Jay-Z, Nas and Rakim. As a teen, he started writing and brought his talents to the ring, battle rapping and developing a reputation for poignant punch lines and clever wordplay.
Now as iFFY begins to wholeheartedly pursue a career in music. The influences of rap gods, combined with his early love for rock and punk, are helping him develop a distinguished sound that brands him as one of a kind. His debut mixtape “Songs of Love & Madness” displays his versatility and limitless range. Whether he is spitting the rawness of “Feelin’ iFFY” or singing the upbeat yet somber tune of “Cast Away,” iFFY melodically captivates ears.
With more projects in the works, he will continue to offer listeners his heart in the form of music. In the process, he plans to further polish his sound and keep testing the boundaries of creative freedom.
I will easily conclude that iFFY is on ours list of Face to Watch in 2011.

A wall of historic Alabama blues posters covers an entire wall inside the Project’s headquarters.
Alabama has a rich blues tradition and the Alabama Blues Project is dedicated to telling the world about it. Debbie Bond, a talented blues guitarist in her own right, fell in love with the Birmingham area and its music scene years ago when she came to Alabama from her native England. Today, she still tours with blues luminaries while running The Alabama Blues Project with her musician husband and a small staff of people as dedicated as she is. Their headquarters is in Debbie’s former home, a charming wooden cottage in Northport, across from a former train station where traveling blues artists used to hop trains and travel from town to town.
