geoff-mcfetridge-bushmills-whiskey-1

Geoff McFetridge is at it again in his latest art project with Bushmills Irish Whiskey. The Los Angeles based graphic designer and visual artist created a whiskey decanter inspired by the original shape of a Bushmills Irish Whiskey bottle, hand blown by design firm Esque Studio. McFetridge established a name for himself by creating the title sequences for The Virgin Suicides and Where The Wild Things Are. He was also part of the Beautiful Losers Exhibition, and makes solo exhibitions from Los Angeles, Berlin, Paris, London, the Netherlands and Japan.

February 23, 2013 through March 23, 2013

Parra_Game

Jonathan LeVine Gallery is pleased to present Tracy Had a Hard Sunday, a series of new works by Amsterdam-based, Dutch artist Parra, in what will be his first solo exhibition at the gallery.

Parra creates witty and often provocative post-Pop imagery in a vibrant palette of highly saturated colors. His distinctive hybrid figures have bird-like features such as elongated, beak-shaped noses. The curvaceous nudes are portrayed in a variety of suggestive circumstances, at times salacious and at times comical; occasionally accented by the artist’s stylized, hand-drawn typography.

Western Edition ‘Bitches Brew’ Series Decks

It is beyond rare when a collaboration presents such a meaningful display of each others passions, talents, and legacies in a form so natural and yet so surprisingly distinct. Commissioned by Miles Davis for his landmark album “Bitches Brew”, inspired artist Mati Klarwein created this painting for the album’s cover. With the support of Klarwein’s family, led by his son Balthazar who happens to be a respectable skater, Western Edition is proud to introduce “The Bitches Brew” capsule collection. The highlight of the collection includes a four deck series integration of the album’s cover art. The symmetry of the painting is displayed by having both top and bottom graphics on each deck, the light portion on the bottom and the corresponding dark portion on the top.

A ‘New Day’ for Japan: Takashi Murakami Partners with Christie’s for Charity Auction

On March 11, 2011, Takashi Murakami was in his Tokyo studio, busy with preparations for the biannual GESAI art fair that was scheduled to open in a couple of days. Then everything changed. “It was a total shock,” he said the other day at Gagosian Gallery in New York, recounting his experience of the magnitude 9.0 earthquake that triggered a tsunami and nuclear accidents. “In the days immediately following the earthquake, there was panic and hysteria, but eventually we started to think how we could do something, with artists.” That something was “New Day,” which began as a blog-based version of GESAI (the fair was cancelled in the wake of the disaster) and evolved into a range of activities, including the sale of merchandise and special installations at art fairs, with all proceeds donated to organizations helping with recovery efforts. Now the initiative is primed for its biggest event yet, an auction of 21 works donated by artists including Murakami and members of his Kaikai Kiki stable (Mr., Aya Takano) as well as the likes of Damien Hirst, Cindy Sherman, Jeff Koons, and Yoshitomo Nara.
