Voodoo ceremonies are a staple of Haitian religious traditions. A female priest leads patrons in singing, dancing and offering gifts to spirits. Oh, and the spirits often possess everyone!! Photographer Shannon Taggart went to a basement in Brooklyn that doubled as Mambo Rose Marie Pierre’s Basement Temple, to capture the frenzy.
