The South Bronx’s very own Afrika Bambaataa has recently been welcomed into the faculty at Cornell University in Ithaca, New York. This marks the first time a Hip-Hop legend has ever been appointed a working position in a major university. Known for his pioneering work in the early development of hip-hop, Bambaataa has always played a major role in hip-hop culture. The university’s library is said to have the largest archive of Hip-Hop history, from it’s birth to now. Bambaataa will serve a 3-year term in which he’ll visit the campus several times per year to speak to students and perform.
