The mission of Urbanauts is to provide travelers to Vienna with a true urban experience by giving them the keys to a storefront space that’s theirs and theirs alone. It’s also the ultimate form of repurposing as vacant storefronts are transformed into one-of-a-kind hotel rooms.
The first of many planned spaces is now receiving guests. It’s called Die Schneiderin, which means tailoress. Why? Because this sleek space is a former tailor shop that’s been artfully refurbished as a loft.
Step right in off the street to your very own comfortable, quiet space with TV, internet, a mini bar, organic body care products and a luxurious rain shower. You’ll even get a mini bag of groceries.
The neighborhood lies between Karlsplatz, Naschmarkt and Belvedere Castle. Two free bicycles are included — and the metro is just a couple of minutes away taking you into the heart of Vienna.
Once you book, you get a private check in code and you’re in. Then immerse yourself in a real residential area with breakfast at the corner café, a luxurious visit to the hammam next door or any number of other pleasures that await you when you travel an entirely new way.
More spaces are opening later in 2012, but for now Die Schneiderin awaits.

Going to Vienna in December and definitely going to check this out. What a great idea. They should do this in all major cities.
