The NaCl “Table Salt” House

The NaCl House designed by architecture firm David Jameson Architect, Inc. is located in Bethesda, Maryland. Designed like a jigsaw puzzle with mulitple volumes rising and falling within its single form. Dubbed the NaCl House (NaCl, the scientific term for “table salt”).

Straying from convention, this home opts for a staggered floor plan as opposed to traditional, horizontally layered layouts. The exterior is an artful combination of solid facades and glass, offering peeks at life inside this modernist structure. According to the architect, “The resultant massing reveals an imperfect, rough-hewn form recalling the natural isometric formation of mineral rock salt.”

Drake’s Third Album Will Be Influenced By Move To Los Angeles

Expect a different approach to his third album, as the Toronto MC stated on a press conference last week. Fans should expect his musical content will have evolved far from what we heard on his 2009 mixtape So Far Gone, sophomore LP Take Care and 2010′s Thank Me Later.

“I think that my mood will be reflected in the tempos that I choose for the music,” Drake said. “A lot of Take Care, it’s down, a lot of it’s down and I think a lot of that had to do with being back home in Toronto and getting reacquainted with the life I had before and the difficulties of that, but at the same time trying to express excitement and trying to express joy.”

President Obama Shouts Out Young Jeezy At White House Correspondents’ Dinner

The list of celebrity names at the annual White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner (hosted by Jimmy Kimmel) on Saturday night (April 28) read like an awards show afterparty, but the rapper who got a shout out during President Obama’s speech wasn’t even in attendance. During his humorous minutes on the mic, Obama made his taste for  Young Jeezy’s music known by admitting he sings the Jeezy’s songs to his wife.

“In my first term I sang Al Green. In my second term, I’m going with Young Jeezy,” President Obama joked, addressing his wife Michelle Obama, when he added, “I sing that to her sometimes.” Jeezy was pleased to hear that President Obama was a fan, replying on Twitter. “Shout out to @BarackObama,” he wrote, “You know they love the snowman in the white house.”

‘Avengers’ Smashes Box Office With $178.4M Foreign Debut

Avengers directed by Joss Whedon doesn’t open for another week in North America. The film opened No. 1 in all 39 territories, and posted the biggest opening weekend ever in key Latin American markets including Mexico ($15.9 million) and Brazil ($11.3 million). In the U.K., Avengers debuted to $24.7 million, the biggest opening ever for a superhero title, as well as Disney’s biggest three-day opening. The 3D movie grossed $19.7 million in Australia, the second highest opening ever.

Avengers showed strength across all continents. In Asia, it posted the highest opening weekends in history in Taiwan, Hong Kong and the Philippines (where Saturday was the highest grossing day of all time). Avengers also rolled out in India, where Disney says it enjoyed the third highest opening for a Western film.

Looking ahead, Avengers has plenty of work left, considering it only rolled out in 70 percent of the international marketplace and has yet to touch down in China or Russia, where it lands next weekend. And it doesn’t open in Japan until August.

Video: Slaughterhouse “Hammer Dance”

Compiled from footage of their SXSW performance at Austin Hall, here’s the video features cameos from Trae the Truth, Kanye West, 50 Cent, Big Sean, Tony YaYo, our very own Sway and MC Hammer.

Crooked I said, of the video. “We’re gonna give fans a chance to shine, and I think when it’s done, you’ll see how authentic it is. When we roll into town, we jell with people, no matter where they are, who they are, what part of the world they’re from. We’re just average dudes trying to do extraordinary things.”
