Honda Brings Ferris Bueller to Super Bowl – “Matthew’s Day Off” Extended Version

Honda’s ad already sparked mass conversation thanks to last Thursday’s teaser. The commercial, directed by Todd Phillips (Old School, The Hangover, Due Date, etc.), features Matthew Broderick playing himself in a grown-up version of his celebrated role as Ferris Bueller alongside the all-new 2012 CR-V. Using themes from the original film to bring Honda’s “Leap List” campaign to life, the spot is meant to reinforce how the CR-V helps consumers conquer their aspirations before life’s next big phase.

Think you’re a true fan of Ferris Bueller’s Day Off? There are over two dozen hidden references to the movie throughout the commercial. Some are obvious, some are VERY subtle. See how many you can find. #dayoff

New Balance Men’s H710BNV Trainer

Drawing on the popular hiking theme from the past few seasons, New Balance once again re-vamp their non-running 710 style for spring/summer. A classic hybrid, the 710 is a rugged and functional design that, due to its hiking detail, is always an attractive option. Crafted with uppers from soft reddish-brown leather, the 710 is panelled with a nylon toe-box and tongue. It has a high, padded ankle that offers welcome support, and is topped with D-ring hiker eyelets and a flat hiking lace.

Sundance 2012: Magnolia Buys ’2 Days in New York’

Magnolia Pictures has bought North American rights to Julie Delpy’s 2 Days in New York, the company announced Saturday. The film, a follow up to Delpy’s 2 Days in Paris, stars Delpy, Chris Rock and Delpy’s father Albert Delpy. Christophe Mazodier produced. A family comedy set in the art world, 2 Days in New York will be released via Magnolia’s Ultra VOD program later this year, with what the company says will be a “robust” theatrical release in major markets.

The pickup comes hours after Magnolia announced acquisitions of two other Sundance films, the dramas Nobody Walks and Compliance. The company previously bought the horror flick V/H/S and the documentary The Queen of Versailles, making it the most active buyer so far at this year’s festival.

2 Days in New York manages to be even funnier than its predecessor,” said Magnolia president Eamonn Bowles in a statement. “Julie Delpy has proven once again to have impeccable comic timing, and Chris Rock is a pleasure to watch—we are confident that audiences everywhere will love the film as much as we do.”

Dior Artist Collection Featuring Anselm Reyle

Berlin-based artist Anselm Reyle has collaborated with Dior to create a limited collection of accessories. To create the range, Anselm reinterpreted classic Dior accessories by adding more modern urban details. The bags, shoes, scarves and wallets come in bright colors and shiny metallic leathers. The highlighted piece is the fluorescent camouflage print, used to create a number of bags. The line is reminiscent of Steven Sprouse’s collaboration with Louis Vuitton.

All of the creations are available until March in Dior stores globally, and in four multi-brand stores in New York, Milan, Paris and Tokyo: Saks Fifth Avenue, La Rinascente, Galeries Lafayette and Isetan.

Louis Vuitton presents “The Great Journey of Little Bagcharms”

From the very beginning, people have been adorning their selves with charms for a multitude of incentives including luck, faith, identity, protection, origins and in more recent centuries for fashion. Queen Victoria was christened The Charm Queen for her love of charms. She made charm bracelets fashionable among the European noble classes in Victorian England and became renowned for encasing her wrists in a hoard of jewels, royal symbols and lockets.

Charms are personal icons often with a marked significance. They trace your path with you and can therefore become the memento of a journey. Louis Vuitton has been creating bag charms for more than ten years, many of which are collector’s items. For the occasion of the release of the elegant air balloon bag charm, inspired by the iconic Monogram canvas created in 1896, Christian Borstlap has imagined the adventure of this little collectable. A miniature version of a monogram trunk suspended from an air-balloon wanders through an unknown and ancient world in search of its home.

Tod’s No_Code Capsule Collection

A multitude of loafers go flying and blue suede desert boots walk the confines of a wooden crate in this short from filmmaker Marcus Gaab. Showcasing No_Code, the new capsule collection from Italian luxury house Tod’s, the film features all four paired-down styles in a range of seasonal colors. Inspired by Dazed & Confused magazine’s visionary co-founder Jefferson Hack, No_Code’s versatile but timeless designs are intended for both men and women. “The collection is really in sync, but each shoe is also wholly unique so I wanted to create something that played up each shoe’s specific characteristics,” says Gaab of his decision to display the collection in an array of animated scenes. Designed with the cosmopolitan nomad in mind, the collection is lightweight and crafted in Tod’s signature quality leathers and suede to transition easily from casual daytime use to more formal nocturnal scenarios. “There’s an easiness about the styles, they are minimal and can work in different contexts,” adds Gaab. “They can be sleek and simple, but also a bit more pop and fun, so it’s all about seeing them from different perspectives.”
