Death’s Door, a new web series

The first time Marcus died, he thought his life was destroyed. The second time, he found out what life really is.

That is the tagline for Death’s Door, a new sci-fi/drama web series written and directed by Ben Schaeffer that will release episodes starting August 7, 2011. The series follows a man on the brink of success in life and love who is stricken by a unique disease that causes him to routinely collapse, have cardiac arrest, and then revive minutes later. “Death’s Door has more to do with living than dying. One day I asked myself, ‘What if there was a man who died every week?’” said Schaeffer. The result was a short film script about an old man who has died and revived weekly for nearly 70 years. “When Ben told me about Death’s Door, I immediately had so many questions. I thought the mystery and supernatural elements of the story were as compelling as the characters and their personal struggles, and I felt the story had universal appeal,” says producer Stephanie Dawson.

Schaeffer and Dawson decided to translate the short film into a web series about a younger man to introduce people to the world of Death’s Door. Schaeffer explains, “with a new character opened new possibilities that will hopefully intrigue the audience: How many people have this ‘condition’? How do they live their lives? How do those around them cope? As the series progresses, the world of Death’s Door opens up grander and grander.” Schaeffer and Dawson have big plans for future iterations of Death’s Door, including the short film, a short story for Carrier Pigeon art publication, and possibly a feature film.

The Jubilee Project

The Jubilee Project is excited to partner with The Supply to build the first secondary school in Lenana, Kenya. This school would service orphans and slum children in Lenana, providing them with an affordable education and advancing their educational pursuits.

Education is an global issue that we all feel strongly about. You can become a sponsor by emailing them at project.jubilee@gmail.com and pledging to donate one penny per view. You can also set a cap on the total amount you want to donate.

The Jubilee Project makes videos for a good cause. Our vision is to make entertaining videos that will empower, enable, and inspire others to do good as well.

This idea was born out of the aftermath of the Haiti earthquake in January 2010. Jason and his friends decided to busk in a New York subway station and they made a video of it that raised over $700 for Haiti earthquake relief.

Encouraged by the result, since then Jason, Eddie and Eric have joined together to continue making videos for a good cause. Jason does consulting with Bain, Eddie creates videos for the Obama campaign and the Department of Education, and Eric is a student at Harvard Medical School. But The Jubilee Project is more than just 3 guys and one camera. The work they do goes beyond them and certainly requires all of us together, united, with a common goal of doing good.

Empire Of The Sun Return to U.S. for Fall Tour

Due to overwhelming demand by American audiences, Empire Of The Sun announce new U.S. headline and festival tour dates for September, a further testament to the monumental impact of their amazing live shows and their debut album, Walking On A Dream. In addition to headlining the Coachella Outdoor Theatre as well as Perry’s World at Lollapalooza in the last year, they also sold out two nights at NYC’s 3,000 capacity Terminal 5 as well as four nights at LA’s The Music Box (Henry Fonda Theatre).

The electro- psychedelic project is led by Luke Steele, the enigmatic wunderkind behind Australia’s The Sleepy Jackson. Exotic, lavish, larger-than-life, Walking On A Dream is a bold, visionary and quite brilliant album, which manages to sound exhilaratingly contemporary, audaciously forward-looking, yet also curiously archaic all at once. The singles “Walking On A Dream”, “We Are The People”, “Standing On The Shore” and “Without You” feature a aesthetic of electronic beats, pop melodies and psychedelic overtones.

Film Review: Attack the Block

As Attack the Block opens, a white woman walking alone in a rough neighborhood is mugged by a group of mostly non-white teens. That’s where the cliché ends. The mugging is interrupted by what looks like a meteor crashing into a nearby car. The kids check out the damaged car to increase their take for the night, but one of them is scratched by an unknown creature hiding in the bowels of the wreckage. The kids band together and retaliate, killing the creature, which they come to believe is an alien. They return to their South London projects, brandishing the carcass like a trophy. Little do they know, larger, more menacing aliens are on their way, for revenge. They spend the rest of the film fighting for their lives holed up in and around their building, which they refer to as “the Block.”

Video: Pusha T f. Tyler, The Creator “Trouble On My Mind”

OddFuture and the Re-Up Gang come together for the first single and video off Pusha’s Fear Of God 2: Let Us Pray. Tyler and the rest of his cohorts definitely have a way with keeping your eye glued to the screen with their appearances, add a Neptune’s beat, ski mask and worn out white prostitutes and trouble won’t be only thing on your mind.
