Per usual, there will be alot of dry humping going down at this years SXSW and Summer Camp will do everything in their power to make sure you hump hard. The British have released their single “I Want You” in anticipation of their US debut off their forthcoming album. “I Want You” is a case study in positive growth. Well said, the track grabs listeners by the collar, exposing a new dynamic intensity to a duo that had already proven themselves worth their weight in salt for the unique and widely praised John Hughes inspired Polaroid Pop found on their debut EP Young. Summer Camp have scheduled shows at The Mercury Lounge in NYC on March 2nd, and will be playing The Echo in LA on March 10th. At SXSW they will play the Forrest Family/Transgressive Records showcase.
The Photography of Janette Beckman and David Corio
In the late 1970s, Janette Beckman and David Corio were freelancing for rival weekly music papers in London – Melody Maker and New Musical Express respectively. These were the largest circulation music papers and had a huge influence on the music scene with upcoming bands desperate to be featured to further their careers.
In 1982, Janette moved to New York and started to document the emerging hip hop scene. Meanwhile, David was doing the same in the UK. When David moved to New York in 1992, the two became fast friends and realized they’d both been documenting the same bands and music scenes. Nike Argentina created what it calls the first ‘inter Twitter race’ to run alongside its Buenos Aires 10k race. The idea? To literally show how many ‘followers’ competitors had, in the real world race. Agency +Castro created an application that allowed racers to compare their times in the 10k with those of their Twitter followers. Participants registered at a website, then challenged their followers. They could also challenge friends via customized videos, integrated to Google Earth.
When the race was finished, the times of all the runners were posted online, to show who really had the most ‘followers’. The site received over 70,000 visits in three weeks, and 3,000 tweets mentioned #InterTwitter.

Nike’s Black Mamba film, starring Kobe Bryant, made its debut at the NBA All Star Weekend. The six-minute film, directed by action director Robert Rodriguez and with cameos from Bruce Willis, Danny Trejo and Kanye West, highlights the new Nike Zoom Kobe VI.
For the past month, teasers, trailers, digital, outdoor, and print drove consumers in the U.S. and China to RSVP for the official “premiere” and simulcast of the film online at 1am PST on Saturday, February 19. Fans can now also view the film on Nike Basketball’s Facebook page, and Nike Basketball.com… or just watch it above. The film is also being showcased in several LA cinemas, including Mann’s Chinese Theatre where Bryant was honored on the Hollywood Walk of Fame over the weekend.
In the film, the ‘action movie’ itself is woven into a script meeting between Rodriguez and Bryant – with plenty of Hollywood in-jokes surrounding which stars they can afford, and what kind of explosions are available to them.

Japan-born artist Naoto Hattori makes some “interesting” artworks. After studying graphic design in Tokyo, Hattori moved to New York where he completed a BFA in illustration and has since won a bunch of awards and been featured in respected publications. He says “My vision is like a dream. Whether it’s a sweet dream, a nightmare or just a trippy dream. I try to see what’s really going on in my mind…” If that’s the case, Hattori’s mind is a pretty fantastical place – foxes with human faces as bellies, two-faced alien-types, mutant creatures, and lots of eyeballs.
