The George, Hamburg: Germany

St. Georg is one of Hamburg’s most vibrant, diverse neighborhoods, rife with trendy boutiques good restaurants, reputable theaters and inviting street cafés. The latest addition to the local scene is the new George Hotel, which adds a touch of old-school elegance to the hip and fashionable quarter.

Interior designer Sibylle von Heyden of SynergyHamburg chose old, English-style social clubs as her inspiration for The George, combining classic sensibilities with modern design motifs. Accordingly, the hotel features a noble library, a smoker’s lounge complete with leather furniture, a sophisticated bar and an impressive restaurant serving Mediterranean fare. The George’s 118 rooms, five junior suites and two penthouses all come equipped with flat-screen TV, Internet access, mini-bar and safe, while three grand, timber-floored event rooms provide for all business and entertainment needs. And after a day out on the town shopping, site-seeing or admiring Hamburg’s charming Alster Lake – only a few minutes walk from the hotel itself – guests can relax at The George’s light-flooded rooftop spa, an urban retreat in the middle of the bustling Hanseatic City.
