Famed photographer and one time assistant to legendary Andy Warhol, Ari Marcopoulos knows a thing or two about cameras and what he needs on his person during his daily ventures.. Which is why Incase tapped him to design his own camera bag for them. The “Ari” is essentially the ideal photographers camera bag.
As a veteran photographer whose work takes him across the globe to a variety of locales and climates, a durable yet comfortable bag is a must. The result of this particular design challenge is a low-profile bag with optimal weather resistance, long-wearing comfort, excellent protection and functional features that allow Ari to access his equipment as quickly as possible, never missing a shot.
The Camera Bag also comes with Now Is Forever, a limited-edition book of unpublished Ari Marcopoulos photographs.
Designed by William O’Brien Jr., this vacation house plan is an A-frame house in the forest that stands out among the trees. Described as a “cabin of curiosities,” the Allandale House shelters not just its residents, but also their collection of wines, rare books, stuffed birds and an elk mount. This compact vacation cottage provides a retreat from all the hustle and bustle. The forest setting is as appreciated from the outdoors as it is in, thanks to the home’s expansive glass walls. Three asymmetrical A-frames culminate in this oddly shaped house. Continue reading “A-frame Allandale House” »

“Recent works – Antibiosis” features new and recent works by Bryan Drury. The artist’s body of work, all oil paintings completed within the past 2 years, confronts the incongruous relationship between humans and the natural world. This comes into light not by pairing two extremes against one another or by making pictorial juxtapositions. Instead, it subtly poises their contrived – and growing – separation head on with a realism that marks humanity’s detached fetishization and exploitation of nature. This eco friendly beach house by Robles Arquitectos converts the typical beach home into a lesson in eco architecture. If not for any other reason, this lush location – Peninsula de Osa in Costa Rica, which claims five percent of the world’s biodiversity – has inspired an approach to eco-friendly house design, construction and life. The home is part of an initiative by ISEAMI (Institute of Sustainability, Ecology, Art, Mind and Investigation), who’s head office happens to share the home on this densely palmed hillside hotspot. The main floor acts as a public space for investigation, meditation, training and yoga, while upstairs plays home to the Institute’s director.
Endless beach views invited the architect to incorporate many balconies, sliding-glass walls and outdoor entertaining areas, blurring the boundary between indoors and out. In this eco house design, the architecture firm put their enviro-architecture theory, SDRA (Dynamic System Robles Arquitectos) to use, evaluating 10 factors including climate, energy, water, materials, environment, atmosphere, cost, innovation and passive methods of design and construction. This house, which is secluded about 30 minutes from the nearest town, is 100 percent self-sufficient, proving it is possible to live off the grid and on a level plane with some of the most stylish, luxuriously appointed homes out there.
