Xbox 360 Slim and Kinect

I’m not one to play video games but when Call of Duty releases each time, I gotta get my hands on a joystick and get in a few hours. With the Call of Duty: Black Ops commercial causing a ruckus in the industry (as they always do), it’s nice to see Microsoft is coming out with a new gaming console to make your entertainment more enjoyable.

Microsoft debuted the latest version of their Xbox 360 gaming console and the release of Kinect, a motion sensing peripheral formerly known as project natal. The new Xbox and other announcements came during a Microsoft press conference at the gaming conference E3. The new slim design is sleeker than its predecessor and comes with a series of vents to cool off the hardware inside. The hard drive easily ejects from the device, making upgrading and swapping easier. The new design also has a new port designed for the soon to be released kinect. This hardware peripheral responds to gamers’ motions, allowing users to interact with the system without a controller. A sensor bar is placed near the display allowing the game system to read a users motions, translating these to the game itself. Beyond in game actions,  the new system can also be used to interact with the menus and other Xbox applications with simple gestural motions.
