Even the dates are well designed for Vienna’s upcoming Design Week taking place throughout the city from October 1 – 10, 2010. During this week, the whole city becomes a showcase of design as Viennese museums and companies collaborate with designers from around the world. With a focus on Central and Eastern European design, the goal of the festival is to be international but local.
Organized by a Vienna-based group called Neigungsgruppe Design, the event showcases product, furniture and industrial design, plus experimental approaches to the creation of art. This is the fourth Vienna Design Week since its inception in 2007.
One of the more unique aspects of the festival is called the Passionswege. This project invites ten emerging designers to collaborate with Vienna-based companies to create experimental projects combining the best of their talents. The results of these unions are surprising and exciting as traditional craftsmanship comes alive with the infusion of modern ideas.
With over 80 events, exhibits, talks and installations at venues, it’s the week to see Vienna in a whole new light.

Would love to go to this. Thanks for posting in time to make plans and get a decent airfare.
