From legal disputes with Gizmodo to now announcing plans to make a solar powered iPhone, Apple continues to pass by their competition with their chin aimed high in the sky. For those of us with iPhones, we know the pain of having your phone die half way through out the day if you’re a heavy user, so Apple has applied for a patent for a solar powered iPhone. The iPhone’s energy collection cells will be encased within the body of the phone. Patently Apple reports that the recent switch over of the iPhone’s backside substrate to a non-metal surface could lead the way for double-sided solar panels right behind the display, which will allow it to retain its sleek look.
