Today marks the 13th anniversary of the death of one of the most respected lyricist in the name of Hip-Hop, the Honorable Notorious B.I.G. When B.I.G. passed away I was 12 yrs old, but not your average 12 yr old, I had friends that were 4-7 yrs older than me that had me well versed into the world of Hip-Hop at it’s best time. When New York had the game in the palm of its hands. Remembering the day that Frank White passed, there was a black cloud over New York and the rest of the East Coast, which became a day of silence and echoes of songs from “Ready to Die” and “Life After Death”. Since that date, Hip Hop has changed for the better and also for the worst, but Biggie’s influence will forever remain in the hearts that appreciate the culture for what it truly is.
The pride and energy that each Brooklynite has due to the success of Christopher Wallace is something that has forever changed the borough and what we offer to the world.
