Q&A: Me and My Breast

I recently watched a documentary on BBC about women with large breasts and how they cope with them. The documentary follow three women who feel uncomfortably defined by their naturally large bust size. So I decided to do my own experiment and find out from women that I know how they truly feel about their cup sizes; how they appreciate, love, hate, and handle their breasts.

What age did you begin to blossom?

I started to show signs of my lovely lady lumps around the age of 11. While everyone was still swinging from monkey bars, I had to go shopping for training bars. I figured it was as much considering everyone in my family is pretty well endowed. They had mentioned early on that I would be “blessed”. Yeah thanks!

What was your childhood like with above-average breast?

It was alright, I mean boys were perverts as usual. There was only one other Desiree at my junior high besides myself and whenever they would reference me they would say, “Oh I mean Desiree with the huge boobs”. So since I was young, I had already had boobs coincide with my name. I guess I’m not as offended or shy when people call me ‘Desboobs’ or ‘Destitties’ or just plainly boobs. I do remember this though, the one thing that pissed me off was the fact that boys thought it was hysterical to snap my bra. I had those annoying and ugly minimizer keep your big breasts in check bras and whenever they snapped it, it was not pleasant. I basically wanted to punch anyone in the face who decided to go for it. This was daily.

What is your current bust size? And do you feel your breasts are proportioned to your body?

I’m currently a size 38 D but I think I’m not measured correctly. My bust size fluctuates often so I have quite the array of brassieres in my dresser drawer. As far as being proportioned to my body, I used to hate the fact that I was all boobs. I knew that it was what most people saw at first so I used to hide behind big tops and sweaters. But now I don’t care. They’re mine, they’re real, and they’re huge, so what.

Large breast tend to be associated with or considered unintelligent or comical. Do you believe you would get different attention with smaller breast?

Yes and no, I know that when I was younger I used to get most of my attention due to my size but that was because I was meek and very hermit like. Then over the years, I became the outgoing/brash/in your face version of myself. Whenever I would mention I had a large chest, people would look at me like I had no idea what I was talking about. They were probably lying but I’d like to think that they were being truthful at the time. Now since its become my shtick, people expect to see my boobs being on display. I still disappointed them daily. Basically, I’d like to think I’d get the same attention being smaller chested but I doubt that is the case.

What do you love / hate the most about your breast?

I love that they are so soft. I mean, I thought breasts were always supposed to be this soft but I’ve heard otherwise. They feel like baby skin and I will catch myself from time to time just rubbing slightly the top of my chest area against my hand. Thing I hate? Hmm probably the fact I can never go bra-less, ever. I’ve seen some really cute tops and dresses and then think, “Damnit, this would look soooooo cute without a bra.” Then I shake my hand at the sky towards the Gods, just for that slight second only.

80% of women wear the wrong bra size. What challenges do you have with bra shopping?

The challenges would be probably for so long was the fact that I was TRYING to make my actual bra size smaller (with the minimizers). After I finally came into terms with it, I never actually got sized so I had to kind of wing it with what bra I liked, what bra felt the best, what bra looked the best. All these things played into my factor of which Victoria’s Secret bra I was going to purchase. Man I really should get sized, its costing me a fortune.

Do you have nicknames for your breast?

I don’t! But I probably should considering this isn’t the first time I’ve gotten this question. I think I’ll call the left one Sawyer and the right one Jack.

What do you think the perception of breast do to people?

People are visually stimulated. I mean think about it, breasts are our exterior showcasing of our womanhood. It’s right out there in front of your face. If men had huge packages to where they had to wear a bra to keep them in place, I’m sure you’d see a lot more judging coming from our neck of the woods. People make misconceptions about who a girl is based on her chest size and its kind of sad but it’s reality.

Research shows that the bust sizes of this generation are at least 2-cup sizes bigger than their mothers due to diet and lifestyle. Are you much different in size than your mom?

My mom is very “blessed”. She’s been in the well endowed boat ever since she was probably 11 or so. I doubt I will ever become 2 sizes bigger than her, even if I tried. She is the reigning momboobs.

We often hear about women who are unhappy with their breast size. Smaller breast wish to be bigger, bigger breast wish to be smaller. Are you happy with your breasts?

I used to be very displeased with my chest size. In high school, I wanted a breast reduction. I figured having a smaller chest would make everything just so much better. Then in my senior year I lost 70 lbs, knocking my chest size down to a small B. I finally had gotten my wish without surgery! And you know what, I enjoyed it, but I really missed the girls. I just didn’t look right with nothing to fill out my shirts or bikini tops. Then I had started to gain some of the weight back and voila those babies were the first things to make an appearance, like a gift on xmas morning. I think alot of women are just never satisfied with their appearance. Big boobs want smaller boobs, girls with straight hair want curly hair and vice versa, we need to just embrace what we have. Ever since I’ve had the blog, I’ve gotten more than enough girls emailing me explaining how they were displeased with their size but now they’ve suddenly appreciated their breasts, thanks to Glossy and I. And those are the best kind of emails.

What age did you begin to blossom?

I was in 6th grade. So I guess that makes me, 11.

What was your childhood like with above-average breasts?

It wasn’t great. It was too much attention for no reason from men and women. People you would least expect. Of course it taught me to observe and read people right away.

What is your current bust size? And do you feel your breasts are proportioned to your body?

Right now I am a 42 DDD. (I can’t wait to get back to a 36DD.) Yes I have always been very much well proportioned. I am 5’10 and super curvy

Large breasts tend to be associated with or considered unintelligent or comical. Do you believe you would get different attention with smaller breast?

Oh without a doubt. I wouldn’t get half the attention I get, that’s number one. Number two, people wouldn’t assume I am a dimwit. Add that to the blond hair and people just assume I am a Jayne Mansfield/Marilyn Monroe stereotype.

What do you love / hate the most about your breast?

This sounds dumb but I love the attention they get, I also hate the attention they get.

80% of women wear the wrong bra size. What challenges do you have with bra shopping?

Oh man, it is ROUGH to go bra shopping. I have gone to Fredrick’s of Hollywood but honestly don’t like their cuts. I love Victoria’s Secret’s but of course they only have one or two cuts that I can wear.

Do you have nicknames for your breast? HA! Yes, Patience and Fortitude.

What do you think the perception of breast do to people? I think they get intimidated easily, both men and women.

Research shows that the bust sizes of this generation are at least 2-cup sizes bigger than their mothers due to diet and lifestyle. Are you much different in size than your mom?

I think I am a good cup or two larger than my mother.

We often hear about women who are unhappy with their breast size. Smaller breast wish to be bigger, bigger breast wish to be smaller. Are you happy with your breast?

I would never want a breast reduction but would like to get a lift. Other than that, I am happy with my breasts.

What age did you begin to blossom? I don’t remember. One day I woke up and all the boys wanted to play ‘7 minutes in heaven’ with me.

What was your childhood like with above-average breasts? Above Average.

What is your current bust size? And do you feel your breasts are proportioned to your body? 36 D’s They suit me well.

Large breasts tend to be associated with or considered unintelligent or comical. Do you believe you would get different attention with smaller breast?

I think its common for fake boobs to be associated with stupidity, and to be honest they can look pretty stupid. However, If my boobs were smaller, I’d probably still get the same attention, I’m pretty charming.

What do you love / hate the most about your breasts? I love my boobs. I hate gravity.

80% of women wear the wrong bra size. What challenges do you have with bra shopping?

Those 80% of women should just go bra-less, because Ill fitting bras not only are uncomfortable, they’re unflattering to your figure. I wish inexpensive stores like Forever 21 made the same adorable little numbers for girls with big boobs, as they do for the girls with tiny ones.

Do you have nicknames for your breasts? “The Fat Boys” because I hate “the girls”.

Research shows that the bust sizes of this generation are at least 2-cup sizes bigger than their mothers due to diet and lifestyle. Are you much different in size than your mom? Yeah, my moms boobs in the 70s were way smaller.

We often hear about women who are unhappy with their breast size. Smaller breast wish to be bigger, bigger breast wish to be smaller. Are you happy with your breast? Yes, and you should be too. You could have breasts cancer and a mastectomy, something to think about.

What age did you begin to blossom?

I began to blossom around the age of 9 years old.

What was your childhood like with above-average breast?

My childhood was pretty normal because most of the girls around me had rather large breast as well. I was raised in the Caribbean and it was a common thing to find girls with big breasts.

What is your current bust size? And do you feel your breasts are proportioned to your body?

My current Bust Size is 42I. Yes, I wear my Breast well.

Large breast tend to be associated with or considered unintelligent or comical. Do you believe you would get different attention with smaller breast?

More than likely I would get less attention if I had smaller breast. Women with large breast shouldn’t be stereotyped however.

What do you love / hate the most about your breast?

I love their color, my areola’s, their plushness. I wouldn’t say I hate anything about my breasts but I do dislike their unevenness but as the guys say from one big breast to an even bigger one, who’s complaining?

angel-me-any-my-breast-1

80% of women wear the wrong bra size. What challenges do you have with bra shopping?

Shopping in the wrong places. I now have my breast measured regularly and always buy the correct size. Prior to learning about having them measured, I would always wear the wrong size which would make my breasts appear sagging and the straps would dig into my back, sides and shoulders.

Do you have nicknames for your breast?

No, I don’t have nicknames for them!.

What do you think the perception of breast do to people?

Makes them want to know what the nipple looks like. :} Well, we can either be stereotyped or appreciated!

Research shows that the bust sizes of this generation are at least 2-cup sizes bigger than their mothers due to diet and lifestyle. Are you much different in size than your mom?

My mom passed on a while back before I started growing breasts, but I was told that she was a very voluptuous woman as well. However, I currently have the largest breast in my immediate family.

We often hear about women who are unhappy with their breast size. Smaller breast wish to be bigger, bigger breast wish to be smaller. Are you happy with your breast?

I am very satisfied and content with the voluptuousness of my breast. I wouldn’t want them resized larger or smaller for anything.

Very insightful. The triumphs, trials and tribulations of the buxom. Lol But seriously, aside from the bountiful eye candy, I really appreciated the content. Again, uber insightful.

I really appriciated this article, I can relate with being a size 38 D, and this article showed me to appriciate what I have been blessed with, thank you so much for sharing this with me. I really feel like its ok for me to feel myself, unashamed for my body.

“Large breast tend to be associated with or considered unintelligent or comical. Do you believe you would get different attention with smaller breast?”

The answers to those questions really inspired me to feel comfortable in my skin and Not have to wear oversized sweaters when smaller women are showing everything they’ve got.
Well, its okay for me to wear clothes that fit!! I will reccomend reading this to my friends that think differently about being female.
Thank you SO much!

This article is such an inspiration for both large and small breasts. Women should love their body and should not be ashamed of it. I love the fact that I can see women celebrating their unique body characteristics.
