Nom de Guerre SS2010 “Combat Continues”
Entitled “Combat Continues,” Nom de Guerre’s Spring – Summer 2010 line continues to capture military wear and conflict while expressing them in a new light. In its 10th collection to date, Nom de Guerre examines a new region and motif: political oppression, rebellion, and circumvention as seen through the lens of the colonization of Algeria and the subsequent Algerian war.
Incorporating and juxtaposing the attire of both the civilian insurgency forces as well as the uniforms of the French colonial army, this collection pulls us into two realms—one of interesting and eclectic fashion and another of historical and cultural importance. This coupling stems back to the original motive of the collection itself: “to highlight the significance of society-any society distinct from our own, particularly in oppression or upheaval…”
Spring/Summer 2010 offers culturally influenced lightweight cotton shirting adorned with stripes and plaids, dress shirting for more arid climates, practical jump pants and field jackets, camouflage, linens, tropical wools in traditional patterns, and sturdy khaki drill cotton jackets and trousers.
Take from this collection the opportunity to explore culture and function–to experience and wear another collection of meaningful fashion.
