CXXVI Fall 2009 Collection

cxxvi-main

CXXVI is a New York based label by Matt Gorton and Jon Contino who are also the creatives behind the design studio OneTwentySix. For their 2009 Fall Collection, the duo takes inspiration from the hardworking people of America’s fishing towns: harbormasters, fishermen, and all those that do their daily grind along the yards and docks. The nautical theme is present in their shirt designs, as well as the designers’ pride for New York. All shirts by CXXVI are hand printed, stamped and numbered on soft vintage shirts. Inks are mixed by hand, giving each shirt a unique and distinct look. As for expansion of the line, CXXVI plans on working on a line that will include mens bags and outerwear. Closed Spring 2010 Collection

closed-spring-2010-main

Italian label Closed, most known for their focus on denim, sticks to their sophisticated roots for the upcoming season. Cut from both khaki and denim, the jumpsuit comes across surprisingly well with the pairing of a low-key blazer. Sherbet-flavored cardigans, button-ups in gingham and chambray, and Closed’s core specialty, denim, complete the line-up and are all given a breezy, soaked-in-the sea patina. Rounding out the range, jackets and tops are broken down, often with a weathered wash that lends itself to a modest yet stylish season. Continue reading “Closed Spring 2010 Collection” »

CSD Archtecten

CSD-Archtecten-Main

CSD Archtecten is a trio of creatives made up by; Britt Crepain, Stefan Spaens and Joep Debie. They designed this house that is located in the center of Antwerp, Belgium. Despite the confined space, the house eloquently contains four split level floors, a basement, ground floor, and a roof terrace. CSD Archtecten had to be extremely inventive to optimize the space of every room. For instance, behind the door in the library there’s a wash room. Take a tour of the interior after the jump! Mike Ballard: The All of Everything

alleverything1

A central London exhibition space dedicated to showcasing the creative talents of University of Arts London’s students, The Arts Gallery is soon to fall victim to Crossrail’s controversial new railway project that has already taken the famous London Astoria and other smaller yet equally renowned venues and clubs. Fittingly, the gallery’s final show is a suitably epic affair and the largest, most ambitious yet from former Central Saint Martins graduate, Mike Ballard. The All of Everything features the artist’s almost apocalyptic vision of arts history, the installation encompasses the entire space of the gallery with floors, ceilings and walls depicting all that art has given us, psychedelically fused with Ballard’s archaic vision of all that art will ever give a truly staggering piece of work that is as thought provoking as it is awe-inspiring. Showing from now until the demolition of the gallery, that is scheduled for some time in February. Continue reading “Mike Ballard: The All of Everything” »

Getting Away

getting-away-main

One of our favorite photographers extraordinaire, Matthew Kristall, has wowed us yet again – this time with his fashion editorial “Getting Away” shot for the newly revamped Contributing Editor. Raw, emotional and cinematic, Kristall’s images channel Gus Van Sant’s 1991 award-winning indie film My Own Private Idaho. Bravo to Kristall, stylist Liz McClean and models Roy Pratt and Kyle Saunders for a visually-stunning, beautifully-told story!

Vampire Weekend “White Sky”

vampire-weekend

Vampire Weekend now has three songs from its upcoming Horchata up on MySpace, so you can get a pretty good idea of what to expect when the album comes out on January 12th. “Horchata” has mellow synth and xylophone while “Cousins” has a funky sporadic feel and “White Sky” recalls the Graceland styles of their debut. So there you have it. They’re just taking new roads in the same familiar wood-paneled Wagoneer.

Missoni for Converse All Star High Top Sneakers

converse-allstars-missoni

LA Times’ “All the Rage” delivers the first proper images of the forthcoming collaborative effort between Missoni and Converse. “The classic Chuck Taylor All Star high-top shoe will be served up in two different versions of Missoni’s signature zigzag pattern printed on the sides and tongue, with colors that tie back to Missoni’s Fall/Winter 2010 menswear collection. The circle patch (the design that sits at about the ankle bone of the wearer) is rendered in brown leather, and the traditional “license plate logo” at the heel is monochrome.” Missoni for Converse Chuck Taylor All Stars will be available at Missoni boutiques in New York City and Beverly Hills and other select retailers beginning in early April and retail for 200$US.
