When birth gives not life, but a fate worse than death

Five percent of all pregnancies have complications that require professional medical attention. For many of us women who deliver in hospitals with highly trained OBGYNs, you’d think – “no problem.” But for millions of women without access to a hospital or even sanitized tools to assist in rural home births, one complication called obstetric fistula is a widespread tragedy. This oh-so-common condition is severely stigmatized and leaves women isolated, embarrassed, and shunned by husbands and families. And yet treatment and cure is entirely possible, If only they can get to the right hospital that will perform the simple surgery. This film tells the touching stories of young women whose pregnancies had marked the end of their lives – until a simple surgery was able to return them. It is heartwarming, and will remind you what a miracle looks like.
