Bako and Alex B.
Thanksgiving always brings me back to one thing: taking the time to reflect on all that I am grateful for, particularly the people in my life who don’t necessarily get a proper “thank you” every day.
Last year I dedicated my thanks to my grandma, my “Bako” who, simply put, was my everything. She is in my thoughts every day, every hour, every minute…and I will forever be thankful to her for making me the woman I am today. As time passes, I miss her more and more – but I am comforted by the fact that her presence will forever be felt in our lives. Â Over the holidays in particular, we will remember her grace, unconditional love, strength of character, kindness, warmth and the smile that could light up a room.

In the same vein, I’d like to give a special “thank you” to my family: my mom, dad and sister, Melissa. Without their boundless love, support (no matter what the issue might be!), guidance, kindness, and inspiration, I don’t know where I would be. I have truly been blessed, and to say that I am grateful for the person that they’ve made me really isn’t enough.
Momma and Poppa B.
To my parents who have worked so hard throughout their lives to make my life more comfortable, thank you. To my mom whose breathtaking presence, beauty, and brilliance make a room come alive – thank you. To my dad, whose strength, drive and humility formed the foundation for our family – thank you. To my sister, who is the most sincere, grounded, intelligent and magnificent person that I know – thank you. And, to my dear family in Serbia, Montengro, and Bosnia – thank you for enriching my days from such a far distance. I love you all and I hope you know how grateful I am to have you in my life, in my heart and in my spirit.
Happy Thanksgiving!
