Vittorio J. Ties

vittorio-ties

When it comes to formal attire, the tie is one of my favorite accessories. It accentuates my outfit by giving it extra flare and pop. Over the years, I’ve collected ties just based on their design and still have yet to wore them but I’m sure that day will come soon. With picking out my ties, one key element needs to be taken into consideration: individuality. I make sure that whatever I’m wearing will not be seen or has been purchased by the greater public. Individuality goes beyond ties but for all of fashion and wardrobe.

In celebration of individuality, we introduce you to Vittorio J, a New York based, ready-to-wear and bespoke necktie makers.

Staying true to its mission of presenting “Quality Craftsmanship, Innovative Design and Exclusivity” this collection is literally cut from a different clothe. Made of silk with a yarn count 50% higher than industry standards in the hands of artisan craftsmen in Naples, you can expect a more plush texture. In an effort to reduce knotting and wrinkling, founder Jesse Chao implemented the use of double slip stitching and an elastic thread stitched within, all adding to the tie’s life. Studio D’artisan Shirts Fall ’09

dartisan-fall-2009-1

Studio D’Artisan is one of the worlds finest Japanese denim producers since 1979. The original architect of vintage denim production using disused shuttle looms. Very high quality chambray shirt with the workman pockets making a nice unique feature. Made with real chain stitching throughout and a blue selvage and 100% cotton. One key design element that we like is the selvedge hidden button down collar with neck fastening. Runaway threads from the chainstitch on a heavy fabric, almost denim like, that shouts quality. Available at Superdenim. Continue reading “Studio D’artisan Shirts Fall ’09” »

Eden Falls: “Vertical Zoo”

eden-falls-01

Visiondivision’s Eden Falls is a proposal for the ‘Vertical Zoo’ competition organized by Arquitectum. The brief was to enhance the Constanera Sur Ecological Reserve in Buenos Aires, Argentina, which is a natural space of artificial origins situated on a large area of land reclaimed from the river. They asked that a versatile structure at least 100 meters high that functions as a home for animals and administrative services associated to the zoo be designed for the area.

Visiondivision’s concept involves taking water from the river, cleaning it and pumping water through a system of huge pipes which acts as the zoo’s vertical structure. This water is constantly overflowing the pool on the roof which creates a waterfall on the entire façade concealing, the pipe structure and turns into energy at the basement level through the turbines and the main generator. The building’s self-generated waterfall also makes an air conditioning system redundant. Continue reading “Eden Falls: “Vertical Zoo”” »

Prometheus Springs

prometheus-springs-bottles-black

Remember when you were a child and your mom gave you medicine or some sort of beverage that you didn’t enjoy taking but she said “it’s good for you”. Prometheus Springs is exactly that but it taste pretty damn good and you know it works because it immediately flows through your digestive system and then you look at your bottle and begin nodding your head wanting to find our more.

Founded by Rahul Panchal and Alexis Mincolla, comes the “Original Capasicin Spiced Elixir”. Many of you are saying “what the hell is that?”

Capsaicin is a powerhouse cold and flu kicker. It’s is recommended for congestion, stuffy nose, muscle aches and sore throat.

Acting as an expectorant, capsaicin can break-up and relieve mucus in the lungs and nose. Enjoying the spice of capsaicin causes mouth, throat and lungs to release aqueous fluids. This spice induced secretion helps thin airway mucus, and relieve throat pain, making it easier to cough. This effect is not only driven by symptomatic relief, but also because of the antiseptic properties of capsaicin.

That’s perfect, just in time for this cold and flu season, try Prometheus Springs three flavors: Pomegranate Black Pepper, Lemon Ginger and Lychee Wasabi. The combination of spice and sweetness gives off this sensation that you’ll remember and love. Check out the effects you can from drinking Prometheus Springs: Boosting metabolism, Moderates appetites, Protects your heart, Fights cancer, Anti- inflammatory, Relieves congestion, Detoxifies your body and Enhances Mood.

The mood enhancement is by virtue of capsaicin’s unique ability to stimulate the body’s endorphin response thus giving its drinkers a healthy natural high that can be compared to a runner’s high or even a post coital contentment. But for all the impressive health benefits that capsaicin boasts, it is important to remember that Prometheus Springs above all, is simply a delicious and surprisingly versatile beverage.

Library of the University of Amsterdam

rolf01

If libraries looked like this when we were forced to go in our childhood to do those science projects and research on conquistadors, MAYBE we might still be lounging around and reading books for free. The University of Amsterdam library has become a ‘home’ in which students can study, with an enormous collection of books kept in closed repositories and book depots. Up to 5000 students visit the library everyday to pick up their digitally ordered books, the University wanted a new design that would comprise study rooms plus 235 extra workspaces, the information center and a automated lending area. CMJ Showcase – Theophilus London

Theophilus London, if you don’t know his name or his music by now… you should go play in traffic and start your life all over. During the CMJ madness a few weeks ago in NYC, Green Owl and Babelgum held performances and yours truly was amongst the many artist that had the opportunity to show the masses their talent. For all our followers, you know we love and support our dude from day 1. As you watch this clip you’ll see why.

“A wordsmith that’s James-Dean cool, young London is the voice of a post hiphop generation. His rhymes cut through traditional rap braggadocio to explore new horizons and emotional landscapes. Below him, the beats are idiosyncratic and filled with synthesizers and talking drums.”
