It is so easy for some to believe that racism no longer exist but in my experience that opinion is from those that have never experienced the reality of racism. We deal with the same inequalities and setbacks here in America. Many African-Americans have made great strides to overcome the barriers that racism and slavery left behind however, many are still drowning and suffering from the wrongs of men and women in the United States centuries ago. Some believe that it is not on such a drastic scale but when you realize that there are white families living off of old money that was earned by their African slaves. What would it take for our government to force families that are still living off of that old money to relinquish their land and earnings to the poor African-American families that have yet to move out of the shack towns they were placed in years ago. Imagine where that would place African-Americans on the socioeconomic totem pole. Imagine the different stories we would read about today.
