A cold, lifeless hand takes your ticket. You’re left with a bone-chilling shiver as you move toward an empty theater seat. The lights dim, voices fade, the film begins. The screen starts to rip apart as the action comes straight for you. The show’s about to begin…
For the first time ever, Universal Orlando is devoting its entire Halloween Horror Nights event to bringing horror films to life. All eight haunted houses, all six scare-zones and two live shows will be directly inspired by some of today’s most popular horror films.
In another first, guests will experience three powerful mega-horror film concepts live and in-person before seeing them on-screen: “SAW,” the legendary horror series from Lionsgate® and Twisted Pictures, due in theaters with its newest release of “SAW VI” this October; “The Wolfman” from Universal Pictures, in theaters February 2010; and “Cirque Du Freak: The Vampire’s Assistant,” also from Universal Pictures, due in theaters October 2009. There will be two additional houses inspired by cult horror films.
“Our guests are going to feel as if their favorite horror films have left the screen and surrounded them,” said Jim Timon, senior vice president of entertainment for Universal Orlando Resort. “They will come face to face with many of the most disturbing characters in film history. When they leave Halloween Horror Nights, they’ll wish their experience was just a movie.” Continue reading “Modern Horror Films at Universal Orlando’s Halloween Horror Nights” »
It has been a year, or so since I have been on the search for the perfect pair of eye glasses for myself. There are so many different styles from modern eyewear to retro, which can make the search even more challenging to accomplish. In a few select looks on the site you can see me wearing a pair of glasses which I eventually grew tired of. There is a lot to consider when buying your own pair of eye glasses, depending on your personal taste and appearance it can vary. After receiving many recommendations from friends on twitter, I embarked on my own silent journey to find the best eyewear for myself. I wasn’t necessarily looking for the best glasses money could buy, but something classic and that’s exactly what I found. My days of being forced to sit in the very front row of classes in school are now finally over (lol) thanks to the Shuron Ronsir Zyl. Continue reading “Back to the Classic : Shuron Eyewear” »

Fresh from the source, this dope remix by top UK producer Sasquatch of Crunc Tesla‘s original VOODOO SOUND from his 2008 release “What’s Really Rad?” on Tigerbeat6/ Ekleroshock/ Luv Technologies has been on heavy rotation…intented for lucid dreaming stimulating flying experience to terrestial and outofspace jungles. Thanks for my fellow intergalactic bhakti Aeon for putting me on this!
“What’s Really Rad?” is a 23-minute kinetic energy burst along the lines of Outkast, The Pharcyde, Squarepusher, and even Harry Bellafonte. Acid basslines, gypsy organs and tweaked synths melt into grimy beats while creamy, rapid-fire lyrics flicker from dark to brilliant. The bipolar fusion of tones melds Middle Eastern melodies with dirty south drum kits, dancehall riddims and broke-beat glitchology.” The vocalists bombard from all angles, with MCs hailing from Jamaica, Baltimore, D.C., Atlanta and New York.” You can take a listen and download the album on amazon.
A profound sense of style has always been innate in Original Penguin’s new Creative Director Ann Doty Payne. She is responsible for the design of all product lines from clothing to accessories, and for Original Penguin’s corporate image, advertising campaigns and store design. She lends her unique aesthetic to the brand by introducing new patterns as well as reinvigorating heritage prints with new colorways and silhouettes.
The new Holiday 2009 collection will be her first collection for Penguin. The inspiration and concept behind the collection is based off of a story about a man on a cross country road trip that ends in Las Vegas where the women are drop dead gorgeous and the stakes are high. First Kal Penn of Harold and Kumar joins Obama’s Office of Public Liaison, and now Prince is rumored to be knocking at the door of the White House, looking for a job. The White House’s Special Advisor for Green Jobs, Van Jones, told Jet magazine that celebrities including Prince and Russell Simmons have contacted him in an effort to partner with Obama’s team.
While celebrity enthusiasm for and involvement in the White House is nothing new these days, it is interesting that Prince has chosen to align himself with Obama after he refrained from voting in the last presidential election. He justified his abstention from voting by saying, “The reason why is because I’m one of Jehovah’s Witnesses and we’ve never voted. That’s not to say that I don’t think Barack Obama—President Obama—is a very smart individual and he seems like he means well. Prophecy is what we all have to go by now.”
…”And I don’t wear Jerseys I’m thirty plus, give me a crisp pair of jeans nigga button-ups”… I’m sure Jay-Z didn’t expect every young hip hop fan to throw out his $200 George Gervin throwback jersey and go to Bloomingdales and pick up a closet full of button ups, but they did. We did. We listened to Jay like he was the headmaster at a boarding school. The only thing was he really wasn’t trying to convince us. He was merely telling us what he did and thought was fly. But with the official release of Death of Auto Tune and Run This Town along with the unofficial leak of Off That featuring Drake off of the highly anticipated Blueprint III album, it seems as though he is now telling us what to do.
Everything evolves, and musically the last two years in Hip Hop have been considerably evolutionary. The Hip Hop scene moved out of New York and into South. The revolutionary but gangster rappers like Public Enemy and NWA were replaced with the more lyrically conscious sounds of the Native Tongues Era. They in turn were followed by very urban/mainstream fusions for a long span that became redundant and sparked the recent uprising of more conscious positive minded acts. These processes are organic and necessary. Continue reading “…So far, on the Blueprint III” »
