Safe Spot Skate Spot

I’m sure no one is a stranger to Rob Dyrdek. I was a huge fan of his first show on MTV next to his friend and body guard Christopher “Big Black” Boykin. His new venture with MTV is called Fantasy Factory and it is far from disappointing. On Rob & Big, his few skate sessions (which usually were held on school grounds or the back of office building) were always interrupted by a security guard or the police. Tired of dodging the law, he came up with a(n) idea that will soon change the world of urban skating.

Rob along side the DC Shoes Skate Plaza Foundation, came up with the Safe Spot Skate Spot program, which supports legal and safe skate spots for communities interested in developing skateable areas for their local skateboarders. Based from the skate plaza concept, the Safe Spot Skate Spot program will provide an alternative option for communities to develop real street skating terrain given limited budgets or space restrictions. The Los Angeles (Lafayette) location opened in February and is the first Safe Spot to be developed under the foundation’s new program. Look out for a Safe Spot Skate Spot in a town near you soon.
