Morgan Aero Super Sport

Readers, it is now time to take a deep breath, and close your eyes.  Tune out the sounds of your phone, outdated printer, your “office mates” vigorous typing… and your boss’s voice as he/she stands behind you asking about files you’ve never seen while the stench of stale coffee exudes from their pores.

You are now on a dirt road on the outskirts of Cannes, France. Around you, nothing.  Nothing but trees which seem to go on for miles in either direction. Then you look down at the emblem on your steering wheel and smile, as the wind press your Yves Saint Laurent shades tighter amongst your brow.  Ladies and Gentlemen, you are in a(n) limited edition Morgan Aero Super Sport.  Throughout 2009 the Morgan Company is celebrating one hundred years of continuous manufacture.  The company has remained in one family’s ownership since the founder HFS Morgan made his first car in 1909.  As part of the Centenary celebrations Morgan announces a truly superb model.

The Aero Super Sport utilizes lightweight aircraft-quality aluminum for the body panels, as well as for the two detachable roof panels which are placed in the boot when not in use.  Even the chassis are built from the light metal, which uses adhesive bonding to increase rigidity.  The car is powered by the (also aluminum) 4.8-liter V8 engine from BMW, which can be mated to either a six speed manual or automatic transmission.

Oh wait…and as for the interior you ask?  We all know the Morgan Family does not skimp in that area!  The interior features a comfortable combination of polished hardwoods, hand stitched leather and state of the art technology to create a driving environment that is efficient, ergonomic, and sumptuous while still providing the driver with that rustic feel.  And don’t worry, in spite of all this opulence the overall weight of the car is still minimal so the car is both responsive to driver inputs and economical to run.

HFS Morgan’s Grandson, Charles Morgan (I call him Charlie Rock), spoke of the car’s elegance through minimalism. “It is a celebration of our love of cars and the romance of travel, and is a fitting model to announce during the Morgan’s Centenary year.” The new Aero Super Sport is due to enter production in early 2010, and it can be all yours for a cool $187,981.

Now for those files…
