As we get closer to Valentine’s Day and make final decisions on ideas to make our significant other smile and get in their pants or if you’re the female who wondered why he hasn’t called or what that text message really means then you’re gonna enjoy this read. On February 6th, you’re probably one of the folks waiting on the heavily promoted movie “He’s Just Not That Into You“, but rather than trying to dissect love, romance and attraction down to a single catch phrase, perhaps you should take control of this game called love and finally examine it from a scientific perspective.
Andrew Trees, best known as the controversial author of Academy X, has written a new book called Decoding Love that explores new research that shows in fact attraction has more to do with science than romance. Applying the results of several scientific studies, evolutionary psychology as well as the game theory of economics, Trees research can help you date more effectively and offer insight into how to truly make him yours just in time for Valentine’s Day.
A few interesting tidbits include:
- Adrenaline enhances feelings of attraction. Therefore, creating a mildly scary scenario can become a cupid’s arrow.
- Men tend to marry younger women, while women then to marry older men. As such, a woman’s dating pool naturally shrinks with each passing year, while a man’s grows larger. Similarly, the more educated and successful a man, the larger his dating pool, while a woman’s dating pool shrinks the more educated and accomplished she becomes. The majority of women interviewed said they would not date a man less successful than they were. And 50% of married couples in which the wife is the primary bread winner end up divorced.
- Women who wear a spicy floral fragrance appear on average 10-12 pounds slimmer.
- Women place enormous value on height: a 5’6″ man needs to earn $175,000 a year more than a 6-foot man, a 5’8″ man has to earn $146,000 more a year and a 5-foot man has to earn $325,000 a year more in order to overcome his height disadvantage.
- The female egg is much more valuable than the male sperm which explains man’s biological need for more sexual partners while women tend to be more selective when it comes to their sexual partners.
