The Details are Final: T-Mobile Releases Google Phone

T-mobile is holding a press conference today in New York to release the details of their latest phone; the Google phone, the G1! We’ve been waiting patiently for this iPhone killer for sometime.

We’ve got some new pictures as well as pricing and plan details for you here:

The G1 will be $179 with a 2 year contract and will have a 3g data plan available with wifi & gps for only $25 a month. Not bad if you ask us.

2 years too late to claim this phone is revolutionary. Copycats are not revolutionary anywhere. Being that said, it’s great to see that Apple might have some competition…. but the video shows a 3d render of a phone, Apple’s tv spots show a real hand using a real phone. Big difference.

Does it claim to have multi-touch? T-Mobile is still under CDMA, right?

Still skeptical about Google’s phone.. but they’re kinda convincing me to tryout their browser… so, who knows!

@Santi Siri This phone solves the syncing problem better than Apple & certainly for a much lower cost (free!).

Your contacts/email/appointments move across computer & cell phone with every update.

Copy & Paste is solved.

There is 3.5G coverage & GPS built in as well as open standards for applications, so before you know it, you can video conference from your G1 over the net to friends in Argentina, Europe or Asia.

Improved maps with a compass, walking directions & streetview definitely do not hurt either.

This phone matches or exceeds the iPhone in everything except storage, which you can pay extra for.
