The Hotel Seeko’o

Seeko’o The hotel is located on the docks of Bordeaux at the intersection of Wharf and Bacalan Course Edouard Vaillant in an area located between the Chartrons and Bacalan, north of the city. Upstream, the facade of platforms built in the eighteenth century is characterized by unity of its stone facades and a unique architectural continuity. Faced with the river, this facade is one of the main jewels heritage of the city.

In this part of the docks, a little neglected, the architectural identity heterogeneous gives a facade to see much more piecemeal. As during Edouard Vaillant, bombed during the last war, its pace is rather austere and high quality. However, recent projects and Bacalan pond flows, the future bridge on the right course Lucien Faure and the recent renovation of hangars and docks make this area a place in full development.

It is without doubt one of the major challenges for urban development and urban requalification North of the city. The hotel is part of this dynamic urban and benefits of a high visibility on what constitutes the “facade of Bordeaux.” It proposes a new point of focus and participate in the long run, the sewing necessary for the development of the North district.

Driven by this context, the draft dares modernity without denying membership of a wider inscribed in history and the memory of places. On its two facades comes a frame regular percements the equal proportions. More high as broad, sometimes windows, doors sometimes, these openings provide a great visual continuity in the wake of the front of the docks. The project, which eliminates all references stylistic history, is the skinning and cleaning of its design.

The choice of a smooth skin and abstract, composed of large plates CORIAN a white, reinforces this idea and creates a strong identity of the project. The treatment of the angle, characteristic of buildings located similarly, offers a reinterpretation dynamic and nerve-shaped bow. The work of the skin of the building, in the form of “folds”, confuses facade and roof and allows through two minor inflections link physically cornices adjoining buildings. The form that results resumed its inclination “brisis” traditional slate and accentuates the lines elusive for more levity.

In second reading, the provision of percements brings a new complexity to the normal processing of stone facades. The glass is placed outside the bare facades, either naked inside, a subtle game shape composed of reliefs hollow and reflections. Some windows, dressed in silk-screened glass panels evoke the past port docks.

The last level of the hotel, treaty Attic, stands behind facades. The rooms that compose enjoy a privileged view: North on the ponds and streams Pont d’Aquitaine and East on the river and hills on the right bank over the hangars.

The shape of the plot and regulatory setbacks have dictated the shape of the building, which extended the provision remains unusual for a hotel. All rooms are oriented streets and distributed by a passageway lit naturally later heart block. At the ground floor, welcoming the public takes place in a vast open-space “, largely open to the outside world. At the 1st floor, the bow of the building houses the bar and dining room. A steam bath, sauna and a meeting room / conference complement the services offered to clients.

The rooms, beautiful dimensions of 28 to 55 m2, have a decorative unit sober and graphics. The slight silkscreen printed on the windows of high quality sound, contributes to bathe the user in the visual world of platforms, while maintaining a comfortable hearing. The low ceiling height of the ground floor is also involved in this “putting distance platforms.”

Price architecture of the city of Bordeaux 2008 and nominated for the MIPIM Awards 2008, this place attractive, space bearer of meaning and emotions, helps to immerse the visitor in a universe scénographié conducive to the scenery.

Yoji Yamamoto’s latest venture is Coming Soon, a more youthful line than his flagship, Coming Soon has led things off with the release of a simple set of sneakers. Canvas uppers with rubber soles may not be ground breaking, but Yamamoto manages to tease some new life into the concept and not rehash old looks too directly. They come in both white and black.

Public School Fall 2008 Collection

Public School, created by Dao-Yi Chow and Maxwell Osborne, the Autumn/Winter collection continues to capture the attitude and rebellious spirit of New York. “More of a continuation from Spring (Public School’s introductory collection) than a new concept, Public School’s AW 2008 collection will highlight finding perfection through imperfection and being able to accomplish a lot with just a little,” says Chow. Public School has been known for creating clean imperfections in their designs, providing consumers with added elements such as removable plackets on zip front jackets, convertible collars on woven shirts and detachable fingerless leather gloves on parkas, just to name a few.

Their Silhouettes primarily focus on outerwear, offering an array of materials such as nylon, wool/leather mixes and thermal. Constructed wool plays a huge part in the collection, offering a cropped wool peacoat, a wool vest with a leather collar and an updated varsity jacket with removable sleeves. There is also an emphasis on trim and hardware: chunky zippers, a progressive use of oversized studs and leather-wrapped d-rings. Foundation colors remain the same – black, white, khaki, heather gray and chalkboard green.

Asymetrical Rubik’s Cube

Till this day the original rubik’s cube has been as challenge so now comes the Asymetricl Rubik’s Cube… looking from the pictures how the hell is anyone suppose to work this out. It’s colored the same on all sides, a reflective surface to throw your depth perception off, and the pieces are differently sized. Give me a nail and I’ll give a answer… the guy in the video spends roughly a minute opening up the package alone!.

Opening Ceremony Autumn/Winter 2008

Opening Ceremony present two great pieces from their Autumn/Winter 2008 collection. The Shawl Collar Cardi is a toffee/navy buffalo plaid knit cardigan with a shawl collar and a wide navy rib along the bottom hem. We like how thick it is and how comfortable it looks, the perfect look and feel for the winter season.

It is made from 100% wool blend. The black and white buffalo plaid winter coat comes with a black shawl collar and two button flap waist pockets, along with a vertical, welt pocket at the breast. The large buffalo plaid almost makes it elegant, rather than raw.

Both the Opening Ceremony Shawl Collar Cardi and the Worker’s Coat are now available at Oak.
