Both by way of Nigeria and Haiti respectively, 21 Maroons founders Emeka Alams and Yego Moravia created their clothing company in homage to Africa’s rich history by mixing traditional African and West Indian garbs with American flavor and providing their brand to the urban Maroon Colonies of the 21st century.
The patterns, rhythms, textures, and colors of Africa and Her diaspora, passed on to us by our ancestors, inform the way 21 Maroons create their collections. Each collection 21MC creates, tells of rebellions on the plantations, and survival in the cities of the “1st” World.
